Well the van will be buggered next week. MOT is due and have had someone to look at it today t odo a pre-mot check.

Seems the van has had a ding and the chassis is bent, no way it will pass the MOT, also the seat belt pre-tensioner went and thats an automatic fail too.

Apart from that he says its in good nick for its age ( as he says it will cost more than the vans worth to fix it) its a P reg vauxhall combo

So options...

Do I go into debt on a van and get a newer one?

Do I try to get a grant? Howe do I do this and how hard is it to do?

Tried a loan today, they want 5 years accounts!!!

Same with the leasing peeps.

that'll teach me for scrimping on a van. Paid £600 for it to get it quick as had a job to do. then when I bought the tiles they wouldnt be here for 5 weeks!!!! so could have waited in the end.

Then the clutch went... moral of the story (for other newbies like myself.) pick a budget for a van then add some. I paid nearly £1000 when you add the price of the new clutch for the van.

So other newbies what have you done for your vans??

savings are all gone now. Have 6 jobs booked in too starting next week.

couldnt have come at a better time eh;-)

Does anyone in the north east have a van they can rent at a very reasonable rate for a few weeks ;-)

Its the pre-tensioner thats gone on the seat belt. The gas thingy that fires in an accident. They still only that amount ??

Had thought about going somewhere else first like and trying, shy bairns get nowt and all that.

might do it just to see, some are stricter than others like.

Whats your van and how much Raja??

Actually just checked the UKMOT web page and the pre-tensioner going (to explain it has been fired in the accident) is not a reason for failure as the seat belt still operates.

Just the chassis to worry about. Gonna give it a try.

Still want to know how much and what kind your van is Raja

Sorry Raja bit out of my price range that. Unless it comes at £100 per month lol

hi gateshead col

why dont you do a personal lease, instead of a business lease. that way you dont need your 5 yrs accounts?

you normally put down 3 months lease payments as a deposit, then pay a monthly amount for 24/36/48 months, then you hand it back or have a balloon payment. that way they cant lose. with a lease van, you can also off set your tax bill :0) also, if your credit history is not too good, then they'll still be inclined to lease because, 1. they own the majority of the van and can claim it back if you fail to make the payments and 2. the rate of interest will be reflected/dissolved into the monthly payments....

try a personal lease mate, you might find it a different prospect. i have never had to produce a wage slip of any discription when ive bought a car or van and ive bought a few cars and vans over the last 15 years.

Good idea with MOTs is to find an ambulance station which does them. Strange twist of regulation means that if they service their own vehicles, they have to offer public MOTs. Coz they are busy, they tend to pass vehicles which smaller garages may try to "make a bit" on.

(I learnt this from moneysavingexpert.com)

Well put the van in today and they missed the bent chassis.

Only found the headlamps unsecured, which Im doing tomorrow and the track rod end needs replaced which is being done thursday morning.

So happy days so far

They also found that my washers didnt work :huh2: , I forgot to fill up the bottle :mad2:

So im a happy chappy today :hurray: and should be able to do my 5 jobs and get a newer van
