Hi All

Ive been doing a job with Topps tiles, zamora brown 30x30.
when i got the tiles out the boxes they had some dust on the top of tile face which was in the pattern of the back of the tile on top.
Dusting off a couple they seemed perfectly fine, not sure if anybody has had it but i find it often that the tiles do get this dust from the tile on top in the box unless they are face to face in the box. I laid the floor,on top of undertile heating, and then grouted and cleaned them. once dried we noticed the pattern from the back of the tile still on the front. i took an off cut to topps and they used their grout residue cleaner which cleaned that tile but i have 6 tiles down that are not cleaning up, its hard to notice it but in certain angles you can really see it,im sure the customer will notice it one day. ive been to topps and went through their stack of tiles and they are mixed up in the boxes, some dust off some stay.
Topps have offered to supply the adhesive, grout and tiles if i need to pull them up.
Ive contacted warm up and they have told me how they pull tiles up when fixing the heating systems.
I just wanted to make people aware of this problem and to know if its possible to clean them up.

Thanks in advance

Hi
Sorry didnt know i had any replies.
Ive used ltp grout and grimestain remover which normally removes everything, then i tried waxoff as i was told it could be wax, tried grout and grime stain remover neat with a pad but no use. its very faint now and i think we could only see it as we was looking for it.
think topps are still selling those tiles though!!!

Time's Ran Out

It's good to know when there may be a problem on the horizon and topps have dealt with it ok - apart from removing the stock from their counters!
It could be just the batch/pallet you bought, but it shows again that every tile should be checked when fitting as at the end of the job - its your responsibility to take them up.
Thanks again and keep posting.

this problem i have had on wall and floor tiles.normal cause is the top glaze is still too warm when the tiles are put in the box causing a slight inprint of the back of the next tile on the surface.depending on the heat of each tile when packed some are more marked than others.if the glaze is too hot marks are permanent, if not so hot some marks can be seen to be improved ie acting like a t-cut

todagres.jpg Hi, i have had this problem too, mine are 60 x 60 tiles from the manufacturer todagres in spain, it looks like an imprint on the face of the floor tile, i have tried a de-scaling acid detergent and no success even using the product undiluted. It is only noticible from a certain angle, looking towards the light, you wouldn't notice it from the other direction or looking directly down on it. I have attached a picture so you can see the face of the tile.
