Bad Tiling Job ?

On the whole, disregarding what he tried to charge for etc the tiling itself isn't too bad imo. A little messy here with the grout but that can be easily sorted, there has been a lot lot worse posted on here, which I know doesn't mean anything to your situation but it could of been a lot worse, that being said if your not happy then you need to bring it up with the tiler.

That rough cut right under the cill doesn't look good, the square holes and the chip behind the rads might be acceptable to some people as its behind the rad, some of the grouting is a bit shallow but as I said on the whole is looks OK to me.

I would have a chat with him and try and come to an amicable agreement either for a bit of a discount or replacing the offending tiles.

Obviously the other issues with lost parts damaged bits etc has exacerbated the tiling bits.

Hi thanks for replying, can you please clarify what do you mean a little messy and how would you correc it ?

The pipes are visible as it’s not a solid rad, how do you sort shallow grout, what about the uneven floor.

I posted one bathroom and 2 x en-suites.

The 'messy' I refer to is the grout around the edges of the tiles and the haze, if dried on this could be removed with a grout haze remover.

The shallow grout lines could be raked out and re-grouted if they are that troublesome.

The pipes could of probably been neater if they came out of the walls at the location of the valves, which of course is not the tilers fault unless he done the pipework for the rads then its just a bit of bad planning.

The uneven floor can only really be rectified by levelling out the subfloor and relaying the tiles, which could be seen as a grey area. If you just asked him to tile the floor then that's what he has done, if you specified that you wanted the floor levelled out then that's a different matter.

As I said, in my humble opinion, its not really really bad work. Others on here might well disagree, everyone has different levels of what is acceptable etc Point out the bits to the tiler and take it from there.

I agree the grout haze and clean up would make a difference. Yes there are some errors but overall not a rough rough job.
Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

What are the errors ?

How do you get rid of hazing ?

what about the floor, he built that up and said he would make level yet it’s well out.

thanks

Grout haze is a residue left over from the grouting process, if its really dried on hard you can use a remover which is a type of weak acid, more often than not though it just needs a wipe with a clean damp cloth as its just a dust.

The floor issue needs to be brought up with the tiler, if he agreed to level it then it should be level.
