After following many of the threads about BAL, it's ownership and its' brands I thought I would join in! And as the BAL Brand Manager I can clarify this query straight away, with a mini essay to explain all!
The company name is Building Adhesives Ltd (from which the original BAL brand name comes). As well as the market leading BAL brand, Building Adhesives Ltd also has other brands within its portfolio (in much the same way that Volkswagen Audi Group manages Skoda, Volkswagen and Audi brands) These brands are Dunlop which is formulated for the non-expert user through retail and merchant channels and the limited range of basic products under the Profix name.
The BAL brand as the majority of you on this (and other forums) agree is the UK market leading tile adhesive, grout and ancillary brand. The brand remains first choice for professional fixers, contractors, specifiers, architects etc . As well as the best and most trusted products we offer a full range of additional support services using our 40 years of knowledge to ensure we stay ahead of market trends and continuing to deliver the products you demand.
Rest assured that as market leader we do not need to put BAL products/formulations in different bags, the brand is strong enough to stand on it's own two feet (we make enough BAL product every hour, 24 hours a day, 6 days a week, to tile a premiership football pitch!!)
In terms of the Norcros confusion, Building Adhesives Ltd was once part of the Norcros Group (who also own Johnsons Tiles) for a few years (1996-2001) until the company was sold. During this period the company was known as Norcros Adhesives Ltd. The Norcros Adhesives company that now markets the Norcros and Johnson brand of adhesives has no connection to the BAL brand either in terms of ownership or in formulations.
Building Adhesives Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ardex Group and operates independently from Ardex UK in Haverhill.
Thanks for your continued support and keep fixing!! :hurray:
