Basin and toilet in or basin and toilet out. What's it to be.

When the sanitary wear is taken out and the floor is plyed out and tiled then almost certainly you will have to adjust all pipes accordingly by about an inch, which can prove to be a right pain in the genitals.IMO:sad_smile:

It's a good point that; worth bearing in mind.

I always quote for using push-fit flexi's with isolators. Makes it easy to take up any slack or movement, also far easier and quicker.

But, if you're tiling onto a plaster board wall, once you have raised the basin and tiolet, how do you secure them in the new position onto the plaster board behind the tile?

you can fix with plasterboard fixings such as these...

Prefer the furniture out. Slackening the wc tank and slipping tiles behind has always been a good option. Confident to do my own plumbing BUT choose not to as my public liability insurance does not cover plumbing

well said len..always check what your insurance covers before commencing any work .........dave..

how do you set these up, do you drill a hole in the tile bigger than the the fixing plug, then insert the plug into the plaster board?

generally in my experience plumbers ensure that plywood is inserted into the studwork before paster board is fitted(where basin and wc tank will fit).
Alternatively you could cut away a small area of board and repace with ply.

drill a hole the same size as the head of the plug....only into the tile..do not go into the plasterboard with the drill..then screw in the plug as normal..Mark.
