Bath panel - corner finishing?!

Hello Tilers all,

I'd be much obliged if some kind soul could advise me the neatest way to finish the corner of a tiled bath panel. The tiles are beautifully flush to the bath, however this means that even with edging trim the external corner protrudes beyond the curved corner of the bath edge. I've spoken to two tilers who told me there was nothing other than putting something in the top of the trim, but with the wealth of experience I wondered if anyone had any other ideas.

Not much that can be done, if the bath panel has not been set back far enough to allow for the curved corner. A while ago I fixed a similar problem by using 2 quarter round trims placed back to back then I ground the spine off with my grinder so as to make a half round nosing to match the round corner of the bath, I then superglue the trim together and laid the tiles. It solved the problem, but it was alot of messing about.:mad2:

Thanks Mick. What do you normally recommend to your customers? I'm just trying to guage what is normal, as my limited experience is that customers ask for flush tiles and I obediantly fulfill their wishes. If I can tell them what is usual that would be an enormous help.

Thanks for your reply. Just to clarify, do you mean that the tiles/panel will protrude from the bath edge by 100mm all the way round, which you you would tile on top of, and presumably this shelf will be raised to be flush with the top of the bath?

i set it so the tiles on the shelf tuck under the lip on the bath

Beautiful! Do you usually construct the shelving frame yourself? I'm worried that if I got into doing that it wouldn't prove very profitable. As I could have tiled several metres of something else in the time it take me to construct.
