We have had a tile tile a bathroom and an ensuite and are not happy with the overall finish of the job. We have asked the tiler to rectify them and he is refusing and is threating court action as we have not paid him anything.
The number one issue is the tile trims which have been poorly and inconsistently installed. In some areas they create a lip, in other areas they don't. In some areas they butt up to the tile in other areas they don't. In the corners the tile trims are not mitred. They were even left with protruding with very sharp dangerous edges in the children's bathroom. He did roughly filed these down and put some Silicon and grout on them but they still look awful. there are also numerous small holes in the grout work.
The Silicon has also been put on so badly it is smeared along the fitted furniture.
Since starting to use the en-suite bathroom we have discovered issues with both the niche and seat in the ensuite shower. With the niche, the base tile was correctly laid on a slight incline, however, the way the trim has been laid creates a lip and prevents the water from running off. For the seat, the tile has not been laid on an incline and the trim lip which is resulting in water pooling. The tile surrounding the face of the niche has been cut with a jagged edge which is right at eye level. Everyday all I can see is a poorly cut jaggedy tile.
There are also issues with wonky tiles to the walls and floors where there are odd tiles that have sunk into the adhesive. I am prepared to overlook these. However, along with the trims this gives a poor overall finish to the rooms.
When we contracted him we understood that he was a perfectionist and therefore we are disappointed to have so many issues. When we have had bathrooms done in the past we have not had one single thing to snag.
What do you think? Is this a poor job? How should we resolve things with the tiler.
