I prefer not to leave access panels if it is going to effect the look of the overall job. Which is why I always leave enough tiles under the bath to make at least 2 repairs in the future. In most cases if you've fitted the bath properly you shouldn't have any leaks, I think i've only ever been called back to a leaking waste once and that was due to the overflow, the flexi overflow pipe had rotted which I can only assume was down to a reaction from some sort of clearner being used

place the bath dead centre, and pack up the walls with 15mm block board to enable true plumb and centre, tile away its in the middle. only way round it in my eyes

Not if done properly, its white and matches in with the bath, you are however entitled to your opinion

I agree. We use the small trim quite a lot now on Silicon repairs; i really like the finish personally. I'll take a pic of the next one i do...

the other option Pac is to try and flog the 1700 bath on ebay after removing the taps and then purchase a 1730 one instead?
