beading/edging....Confused.!!!

Hi everyone hope your all good and have lots of work on.

Just a quick question if anybody can assist...??


What is the best way to cut your angles for plastic/alluminium window edging to get a perfect join..??

I currently use a 45degree angle block with a small hack saw, but i struggle to get the edge to fit perfect everytime.

Some trim can be awkward and others work better.

You can get mitre snips but they are more trouble than they are worth.
Your method is the best way but as I said, some trim mitre better than others due to the profile. What brand are you using. Also have you considered the corner pies you can get these days.

I've always used a mitre block and hacksaw, I do know where you are coming from though. Sometimes the plastic trims bend when you cut them if you push down too hard, making the mitre an odd shape, my advice would be to cut slowly and make sure you have a block that the hacksaw blade fit's in tight so there's no wandering whilst you're cutting.

As Bri said if you push too hard or going too fast the mitre isn't perfect.I have the mitre cutters but only use them to cut the trim straight quickly,they leave an awful bent cut on plastic trim.I don't like the pre made corners either.

All different brands to be honest but i struggle with them all ha. Bloody things!!!
I have tried the corner pieces but find the finish is a little to tatty.
I will just have to stick at it and try perfect my technique haha.

I think this is possibly my prob..!! i may need a new mitre block and buy some really good blades. Thanks mate

Try finer blades,( 32tpi ) I use a full size Hack saw as it seems to last longer.

i use my trusty grinder, diamond tile disc for plastic and metal cutting for aluminium. there's no way you can take a smidgen off with a hacksaw if needed

All of the above use a fine saw nice and slow and just let the hacksaw do the work rather than forcing it.Use a fine file to clean up any burs or to make any fine alterations
