Been a while - giving up!

I have not been on here for a long while down to a few reasons but mainly this one.

I have had very little work in due to being undercut mainly by a fireman who tiles on his days off but also by a few new tilers who are doing prices so cheap I cannot compete.

I have tried a thousand different methods to get work all to no avail, even getting recommendation has not been fruitful and ive had a few.

So ive come to the sad realisation I have to do something else, unfortunatly the only thing I know is IT and the print industry and so ive been working in cornwall and Derbyshire on various IT - colour management projects. This is what I did before but wanted to stop the travelling.

I now will be advertising all my gear on here including NEW RUBI wet cutter. Watch this space.

Many thanks for all the help I was given on here I truly appreciated it , Especially Timeless john who gave up a lot of his own personal time and effort to come to clients with me and offer a great deal of help. I will always be grateful ..

im sorry your packing up tiling ken, a lot of us going through the mill and suffering the same thing from undercutters

Sorry to hear you are packing up, it has been a hard year for new tilers and i dont think it will be any better this year. Good luck and you are always welcome to come and chat on here.

Sorry to hear your news.. But you have to earn a living doing something as you say... so you look after yourself and maybe keep the tools incase you decide to return to the tiling trade..

Sorry to hear this but good luck for the future. I agree with the others here, I'd hold on to your tools for a bit unless finances dictate otherwise.

Well Ken - that's come as a bit of a downer!
As I hadn't heard from you for a bit I thought you were busy!
I enjoyed our visits and hoped that it may have helped, but I understand your situation and you are obviously making the right decision just now.
Remember your training at NETT and realise you still have a skill to offer clients.
I'll make you an offer for your tools via PM on condition you come and use them when you get a few small jobs in.
I know how committed you were to tiling and its just tough for new start ups at the present time - but many hobbies can be made into careers - so continue as a hobby and let it roll!
Oh sorry got to go - the alarms just gone off - I bet its another chip pan fire!!!!

It's always sad to hear this, best of luck bud. twice this year i have been asked to under cut tilers, but i just knock the job back. Because im still tiling part time, i won't under cut a full time tiler, im not relying on my tilng to pay my mortgage. YET!!!
