Anhydrite screeds must not have more than 0.5% residual moisture before being covered.

but then you prime it.. let it absorb it and stand about twiddling your thumbs for a while, prime it again, let that soak in.. prime again etc till it doesnt soak in anymore, wait for that to dry then tiole away, recieve phone call soon after as the tiles are lifting :joker: luckily ive never experienced this situation but i know of someone that it happened to... ive tiled 2 anhydrite screeds successfully without any probs, luckily.

but surely all that priming is just putting in so much more moisture :huh2:

anyone had probs with anhydrite screeds?

ive allways got a weber book floating about in the van, very handy.

You need to remove the weak surface layer of the screed first.
Then you prime it twice with neat primer.
The primer is there to create a barrier between the cement in the adhesive and the gypsum in the screed.
If this is not done, you will get a reaction between the two called 'ettringite'.
Basically, crystals form between the cement and the gypsum and push the tiles off the screed.

So priming anhydrite screeds is a VITAL nuisance

not great stuff to work with lads is it?not yet come across this type of flooring but good advice guys .
