I originally wanted to become a self employed tiler so i could quit my boring 9 to 5 job. So i took a tiling course (which i really enjoyed). I am a hard worker who like to take pride in something i like to do. I think i may be kidding myself a bit as i thought tiling would be a great career, earning some really good money. But i now think that a tiling course is not enough & maybe i should get more experience, such as practising at home & doing jobs for family & friends for very cheap rates (Which i don't mind really, if it gains me experience & speed).
I am still very keen & enthusiastic but think that replacing my job is something that will be as immediate as i hoped:sad_smile:
I do have a couple of jobs at home to do. Plus some work for family (ie bathroom & retile conservatory floor). I think that maybe tiling my garage wall for practise.
I live in the Hampshire area so i am also willing to help a professional tiler in return for some experience & tips. I do work 5 days a week at the moment but i am willing to work weekends (If thats done by anyone Lol) I don't want paying obviously.

Thanks all:wink_smile:

As to making a living as a pro tiler. Remember almost anyone (practical) can tile, the 'work' for most of us is the business side, getting and keeping the jobs coming in plus the admin. Thats why a lot of people on this forum are part timers, tiling and still retaining their shift jobs or short hours jobs. Look at it from all possible choices and go for what works for you. Whatever you do, don't think it's going to happen overnight, customers are going to que at your door and your'e going to get rich. It' a good enjoyable trade but it's still copetitive and needs WORK. If you go for it enjoy it like we do.
