As has been said, a well latex'd floor is not only a joy to work with, it saves u time and potentially a lot of adhesive. Do u have much depth?
If u have over 6mm to go down u can cut some 6mm batons up and use them as runners to pull a straight edge along. A method described on here by Jonnyc. It's worth the effort esp if you're not confident yet. Then u can remove them the Nxt day and back fill the space they leave. Just make sure they are well supported or they will sag when u pull thro your straight edge.
Thats what I had to do here because from the point I chose to take my level from the floor varied by +18 to -5mm 37 bags in 43m2! I used the tilemaster on this occasion but my other favourite is Weber Floorflex. Good luck.
