I use skid rake, spiked roller and a trowel. Doing bigger floor on your own its a struggle. Its better to have someone mixing as you can spend time working on latex and then its a joy to tile on top of it

remove threshold,baton doorway if needed,prime floor,mix as per instructions,pour and trowel,spike roller it
someone too mix helps if your not quick
practice you should be able too screed within a 2mm tolerance with no trowel marks,only taken 30 years so far

As has been said, a well latex'd floor is not only a joy to work with, it saves u time and potentially a lot of adhesive. Do u have much depth?
If u have over 6mm to go down u can cut some 6mm batons up and use them as runners to pull a straight edge along. A method described on here by Jonnyc. It's worth the effort esp if you're not confident yet. Then u can remove them the Nxt day and back fill the space they leave. Just make sure they are well supported or they will sag when u pull thro your straight edge.
Thats what I had to do here because from the point I chose to take my level from the floor varied by +18 to -5mm 37 bags in 43m2! I used the tilemaster on this occasion but my other favourite is Weber Floorflex. Good luck.

I agree started using Webber floorflex,nice too work with plenty of fibres in,lovely smooth finish too
