Ok,

So at the minute I have 4 jobs under my belt and have managed fine with my car )Peugeot 307 Hatchback)

Now Im looking to buy my van this week and wondered what the best types of vans were.

Im thinking mainly about a Citroen Berlingo or Peogeot Partner size.

However that then raises the problem of 8x4 sheets of ply. ( Ive used Hardiebacker Boards up till now as they are smaller.

How do you guys transport your ply. The vans I mentioned dont seem to be big enough

Any views appreciated

Cheers

I use a Peugeot Expert which is just that bit bigger.

It helps also if you're supplying tiles for a customer as the extra floor space means you can spread the load a lot easier.

They're also cheap to run with pretty good engines, the hdi is the better one as it has more power and is slightly more economical. The Citroen Dispatch and the Fiat Scudo are exactly the same barring minor differences.

You can also just squeeze a motorbike in the back for a trackday....not that it had any influence over my choice...lol:wink_smile:

i use a partner, brilliant.

I also use hardibacker so not had the ply problem. Not sure how i'd get round it without a roofrack.

My father in law, also a tiler, use a Expert sizevan and finds it too big. The bigger the van the more crap you carry. I used to have a fiesta van so my new partner is just a breeze.

What about a fiat doblo, great vans and an in between, 1.9 multijet is the way to go. Side doors are very very useful, imo!

I Just Cut The Sheets In To 4x4 And They Go Straight In The Back Of My Van..roofrack Ok But No Good If Its Raining.......

Using a roofrack when it's raining ?

Theres quite a new invention dave that you might be interested in, it's called plastic sheet tarporlin.:eek:mg_smile:

It's made from this plastic stuff, somehow the rain can't soak through it, like magic, and it's very bendy n stuff and can be even rolled up into a small roll :o_O: , and it comes in many funky colours, and it's very cheap

Smart f*****......still have to cut into 4x4 to get it up those stairs and around corners though unless your bendy flexi tarporlin has made the ply bendy flexi aswell.......dave...

I use a 360BHP MR2 Turbo and just cut the sheets into 1 x 2's and do lots of trips. But on a serious note I found the Fiat Ducato alright that I once worked in with my Gaffa of the time and I suppose you have to pay respect to the ford Transit as it's clearly served hundreds of thousands since the day it was made and it's a real work-horse.
