i would agree that some of the products we use are better , but some of the so called flexible adhesives are not as good as say s16 and adrion 90 admix , had ardex admit thats it has to keep up with demand so they produce weaker products, its the way it is , sand cement installation and rendered walls you will find hard to beat in a lot of cases.
The biggest problems of modern tiling is heated floors - as alot of time you are in the arms of others , customer-builder-heating engineers- and most dont listen or they know better , most failures are down to punters not listening as soon as you walk out the door they are playing with the controls
Grouts are better- alot of tools make the job easier , but you still have to have a feel for what you do and a love for tiling , and you never stop learning
