black limestone hearth

I have just opened up a chimney breast and laid a black limestone hearth.
The client is happy with the work except for the greyish colour of the stone.A few years ago I seem to remember that boiled linseed oil was a good way of darkening black limestone. Can anyone confirm this.

LTP Stone Oil.. and then seal over with LTP Mattstone.

So you don't know if boiled linseed oil will work.:smilewinkgrin:

Not tried it on that stone..? but IMO NO!... it will darken it but not offer protection.

Have you tried it and has it worked on other stone surfaces? It is a hearth. Does the stone need the protection? This is now just curiousity as the client has decided she likes the "natural" greyness. Oh well!
