Bostik Showerproof for glass mosaics in a shower?

Hello,
I need to tile one wall of a shower with glass mosaics. I have some Bostik Showerproof ready-mixed adhesive - would this work with glass mosaics? The spec of the mosaic tiles is:

DESCRIPTION Crystal glass mosaic mounted on fibre meshback

SIZE 15 x 15 x 8 mm thick
USE Wall only
WEAR GRADE not applicable
SHEET SIZE 300 x 300 mm
SHEETS PER NOM SQ METRE 11
TILES PER SHEET 324
WEIGHT PER SHEET 1.30 kilos

I'm suspecting that people will recommend Bal Mosaic Fix - from reading a few posts on this site, that seems to be everyone's favourite for mosaics. The Bostik adhesive is very pale in colour, so shouldn't affect the colour of the mosaics; I'm going for a white grout.

The wall is dot & dab plasterboard (onto new blockwork behind), then plastered, then primed with 3 coats of Bal APD, plus a liberal larding of Bal WP1 tanking coating in the corners. The wall will get a good soaking whenever the shower is used.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! I'm planning on starting tomorrow (Saturday 10th May 2014)...I've left this "research" a bit late!!

Thanks,

Paul

Personally would'nt be using any tubbed adhesive in a shower area, why did you use Bal WP1 in the corners only.

Bal mosaic fix is a great choice, especially as you've the wp1 tanking under it. You say you have tanked the corners only, is this correct? You really need to tank the entire wet area.

Thanks for the super-quick replies, Whitebeam and Bri!

I think my suspicions have been confirmed - that a ready-mixed adhesive would be a bad idea, and the Bal Mosaic Fix is the way to go.

I did the corners with the WP1 thinking that this is where any flexing/shrinking/movement of the walls is most likely, and therefore where cracks are most likely to appear. It's a ground floor new build on a concrete floor, so other than any new-build-shrinkage, there shouldn't be much movement. Hopefully! Also, Bal's guidelines say to apply the WP1 to the corners.

I have plenty of WP1 left over, so maybe I'll slap it all over the wall. Might as well use it up!

While we're at it, any recommendations for a white, water-resistant grout suitable for mosaic tiles?

Thanks again,

Paul

Hey up Paul, have a read of the wp1 instructions again, they'll say to do the corners first, then cover the entire wet area in a second phase. As for grout, I'd probably choose microflex from bal, it's super white and is developed to prevent mould
