Hardiebacker board is slightly more at Tile Giant & the smalest bag of adhesive is 20Kg. I only need 5 at the most.

Average shower is 4 mtrs, you will need more than 5 kg..

Its only a small area that needs tiling, 1700mm x 700mm.

The price quoted for a 10kg is really expensive, i would be looking for a 20kg for less than that price.

The Hardibacker 500( 12mm) is what i would use for strength over Marmox..

I agree with your thoughts dave re strength, but i nearly always marmox ensuring my studwork is more than well built. Hardi is heavier, around the same price, harder to cut, messier to work with and needs tankingJust my opinion
