The Hardibacker 500( 12mm) is what i would use for strength over Marmox..
I agree with your thoughts dave re strength, but i nearly always marmox ensuring my studwork is more than well built. Hardi is heavier, around the same price, harder to cut, messier to work with and needs tankingJust my opinion
