Talking about labour charges I think it was Sarah Beeny's books and her magazine that was slated for giving unrealistic labour charges for given jobs.
The problem is in many cases that researchers are not trained in the trade and because the programmes are produced on a tight budget, it's all down to Sharon, who works in lighting or whoever to ask her BF, a handyman, how much he would charge to paint a room.
Garbage in = Garbage out.
I think the most innacurate article in a magazine prize goes to the BBC, when Part P of the Building Regs came in.
It stated that the NICEIC had passed introduced a law to ban all DIY electrical work in the home. In so many words.
Firstly the NICEIC is a charity, not a governing body and certainly not parliament.
Secondly the law was passed, but in Parliament, in the normal way
Thirdly Not all DIY electrical work was banned. There is still plenty that can be done that is not within the scope of Part P
Fourthly Other work that falls within the scope of Part P can still be done, provided the LABC is properly notified.
The article was a small editorial, about 1/6th of a single side, yet only the BBC could cram so many innacuracies into such a small space, well done the BBC!
