Can a dodgy electric supply cause a TV fault? Discussion ThreadCan a dodgy electric supply cause a TV fault? Electrical Advice

Hi, turned on (LG) TV this morning and got a 'Select Item' screen and the volume graphic flashing constantly. The remote works and you can select menu items but it returns to the 'Select Item' menu shortly after.
I looked online and some suggested faulty power or HDMI cables, so I detached everything except the power cable. Same fault.
We have a smaller LG TV in the bedroom which was working so I put this in the lounge but got exactly the same fault. Which made me think it's not the TV but the power socket.
To confirm this I returned the smaller TV to the bedroom and the fault disappeared. I then took the large TV from the lounge off the wall and plugged it into the bedroom and the fault disappeared too. So it's definitely not the TV.
I ran an extension lead from the bedroom socket to the lounge, thinking this would solve the issue and confirm that it was the socket, but got the same fault.
I am now out of ideas. Could there be a voltage issue of some kind? I'm not an electrician so this is alien territory for me.
