finished my second job last week, all went great. phoned my next customer to go to measure up kitchen floor, to be told he hasnt got the money to get job done just now,what a pi&&er, thought i was on a roll.lol

I hate when they accept your quote but then cancel only a couple of days before you are due to commence work...Grrrrr!!

I've heard of some people taking a deposit when customers accept quote. Do many people here do this?

I personally would never ask for any money up front,I think it creates the wrong impression.
I've had people postpone before with plenty of notice which I can live with but I would be well pissed off if they only gave me a couple of days notice.

Totally agree with Ivegots, I never ask for money upfront (unless I am supplying tiles or there is a massive materials bill).
