hmm yeah true, could get bent over and given the puinishment from the big boys, ive clearly stated my quote is for 1 appartment and agreed im jsut doing one apprtment and whatever happends after that is to be discussed, i certainly wont be agreeing to continue working with them if problems occur on their part but a friend works for them and has helped me out immensly so hopefully all will be well.

has this put you off site work altogether tho?

Ive one builder who asks me on Wednesday what i want, it goes into my bank on Friday (minus 20%) and he never quibbles at what i ask, we work on the understanding that the first time i let him down it will be the last!!
Another builder, i have to wait till the next job, sometimes months, before i can get him to answer the phone...****:hurray:...but its good money:8:

Good to hear you got what's due, i'm not a tiler but in the same vain i supplied materials to one of the largest tiling companies and in one weeks time that invoice ( part of )will celebrate it's first birthday..... i will get paid but this is a whole year of paper work. smile when things seem bad because there is alway's somebody a whole lot worse off than you.

Nice one mate, Why cant people just pay up on time, i bet if they were owed the cash theyd be chasing you down :mad2:

When your skint and their hanging on to your money and your knocking on their door for what your owed believe me a hand round the throat comes to mind, If you have'nt had one yet Your time will come mate:grin:

Getting paid is an art form for everyone I think.

I've got outstanding debts with a number of small tile shops. I think I will ask them to pay up front with a credit card now things are getting harder.

But its true that you should "never say never" just make them aware payment is an issue and ask for it in advance.

Thats my plan of action with the ones who mess about with payment
