Hi,

I have just plucked up the courage to tile my bathroom! I have ripped up the original floor which was a cheap lyno floor (revealing concrete which needs drying!) I have bought ceramic floor tiles, but it says ceramic mineral floor tiles. Do I need to seal it as it says mineral or just adhesive and grout as normal??
Also the bath leaked a few months ago, under the bath is completely dry now but where I have lifted to lyno it is damp, just wondering if there is a length of time to wait or just wait until it looks dry?? Thanks for your help.

Well Mich, I think u should check first if there still is a leakage. Shut down all water systems and check if the water meter is running (runs very slow on a leakage). If so, there is a leakage.:uhoh2:

Hi,

The leak has been fixed, the area under the bath is completely dry, it is just when I lifted the lyno up it looked darker than the concrete under the bath. So I think because it's had no air getting to it , it is slighlty damp?

Any advice much appreciated!

I share your opinion. If you have the time wait for 14 days, heat and aerate the room, that should be sufficient. "Ceramic mineral" sounds a bit like a mixture of ceramic plus natural stone stuff. Take a rapid set adhesive for marble, that should work. Should be certified BS EN 12004 class C2FT.

Yes true martin..ceramic mineral sounds like some sort of composite......flexi white rapid set should do the trick.......

Hi,

I've had another look, I have got evo-stik fast set adhesive for ceramic tiles BS EN 12004 class C1FT, and on the tile box it does say ceramic floor tile for indoor use, so mineral must be a style or stone look?
This is the first job I've done on my own and I'm tying myself up in knots!!!!:mad2:

Does this sound ok to go ahead?

One last thing I also bought a white floor grout, are they roughly the same?
Thanks!

I have just finished a job using those tiles, the customer bought them from B&Q:mad2: iwas also confused. but they are a ceramic tile. Addy used was Nicobond rapidset.

Hi,

Yeah, I got them from B & Q as well. Did you use a white grout? I've got the pale ones. Should look OK!

I'll have to wait and see!

Thanks for your help!
