Will start at the beginning, and would appreciate honest opinions.
In the 20 years i have now been tiling i have always held myself to price i.e if i price something and something i have missed during pricing rears its ugly head then i will not charge the customer for my mistakes and usually if the customer changes there mind on the tiles i will still stick to price,so i am always fair to a customer.
Now to the story, about 5 months ago i done a job for a nigerian woman, the job was to tile the whole kitchen wallls and floor there was nothing in said kitchen, but the walls were bad(normally would'nt do it,but needs must).
So goes to start the job,and the lady says "heres the materials"i noticed a tanking kit and asked why she had bought that, she replied"the man in the shop said i needed it",i told her it was not needed and said she should return it for a refund, she replied"i would rather you used it,as the man said it was needed",i agreed and slapped it on (at no extra cost).
She goes to work and comes back after i had tiled the walls(22m2)and says that she wanted them brick bond,i replied well you never said that ,her response was"thats how they were in the showroom",well as i had never been to that particular showroom,i fixed them as i normally would.
I told her that i would take them down if she would pay me again, and bought a few more metres to replace the cuts, she said that it was okay she'd live with it.
Then to the floor, she said i want them on the 45",i told her okay(would normally charge more for that ,but just wanted to get out of there by this time)so i done the floor, grouted it give it a couple of washes and then asked for my cash, she replied"i have'nt got it all ,i'm about £40 short,i'll ring tommorow and you can come and get it" i say's okay and walks away not expecting the call and glad to be shut of it albeit £40 down.
Last week she calls me saying that in one corner the grout has cracked and when can i come and redo it,and the reason she never phoned me about my £40 is that she had to mop the floor twice after i had finished as it was a little dusty.
Honestly what would you guys do?
