If I heard this right on the news (in passing) it's feasible that if you have a single wage earner in the family and their salary is over £44,000 pr annum child benefit will be stopped. However you could have two wage earners earning £43,999.99 (making a combined total of £87,999.98 and thir child benefits would still be available!
Is it just me or does anybody else thinks that this just doesn't make sense?:incazzato:

it goes on the tax band so someone suffering 40% tax wont be eligable to child benefit, but anyone on standard rate will

seems to me that the more you earn and pay taxes for, the less you are entitled to???????????.

Why should somebody who has tried to make theirs and their familys life better by working hard to achieve higher wages be punished by the state when someone who cant even be bothered to get of their arse get all the handouts?????

The more you better yourself in this country the worse off they make you. Those who pay the higher tax rate are the ones who are contributin the most anyway!

They dont want to means test it hence the single salary is an easier way to do it. We will lose the benefit so ill clain ot for y two youngest and we will just lose the money for my step son. Perfectly legal way around it.
