Merry Christmas to all!!:xmas:

My bathroom saga nears its end.

From the 10 tiles I removed I can confirm that I have been getting 100% coverage. Pity I had to take all 10 off together after forgetting to include the border tile that runs through the wall.

So does anyone mark on wall as a reminder for the border? I do now - must be getting old as I nearly did the same on the 2nd wall.

Vynil gloves are crap - I am using them at a fast rate. They are reacting (sort off) with the Bal White Star, plus they sag and tear after a few minutes use. Back to Nitrile asap.

Bal White is brilliant - but bloody hell does it set quick? No room for a messy tiler.
How long doe most people leave in the spacers? A full 24 hours (to be on the safe side?) or a few hours if you are running short like me.

Grouting time nears. Best grout for a bath with a power shower over - oh and 2 daughters still into dying hair various colours?

Silicon at bath - clear or white? I have been told that all whites will stain, but clear will not - is this so? My cuts are spot on, so not looking to hide anything.

Happy holidays (ho ho):54:

If there is potential to stain the grout, maybe you should consider using a grout protector. There has been lots of threads on here about it but just at the mo, I can't remember the name. It comes in an aerosol.

Also I would use white Silicon if it was me. Can't imagine what clear would look like running around a bath!

You should be able to remove the spacers as soon as the tiles no longer move, an hour or too should more than suffice unless you have laid the addy on real thick!

Good morning Grumpy
cheers for your reply - I will scour the threads for the protector.
As for the addy - I have learned my lessons on using it - I got about 5m out of a tub - I would have been well into 3rd tub in past times :)

An hour for the spacers will make life easier on cleaning up - I always was ultra cautious.

I have to admit, I sometimes get so involved in setting the tiles I forget to take out the spacers for several hours. Obviously it depends as well how big/heavy the tiles are. Big tiles will take longer to be solid than small tiles so don't take the hour as de facto!! Need to keep checking for movement. I find that, as you have noticed, white star can take some cleaning off and sometimes I find I need a bit of elbow grease, which can move what appears to be a solid tile.

i'm with you there on the clear Silicon, grumpy, white definitely, and a good Silicon shouldn't stain.

good luck, frogeye, hope you get the room finished by christmas.

Cheers plumber

I am learning so much on this 'simple' project
get a good plasterer that knows what a flat surface looks like is top of the list
I am discovering hollows galore - I should have done it myself - ah well
Just popped down for a quick cuppa after spending ages getting the next batten on ( see previous sentence as to why so long)

I will take a look at the Bal grout and a good Silicon - should be ready to grout by Xmas ho ho
