Discuss Cracked tiles on suspended floor in the Canada Tile Advice area at TilersForums.com.

Hi
Our first floor bathroom floor is constructed of floor boards over joists over which I have laid an electric heat mat and covered with ceramic tiles. The floor has settled and cracks are beginning to appear in some of the tiles. Could I put a self levelling compound over the floor and recover with a vinyl tile? I would appreciate any advice.

Floorboards - any tile backer/insulation boards?
Then UFH - what output per metre?
Adhesive - what type?
Tile - what type?

But yes use a flexible self lever compound and cover with vinyl. Although cracking may continue and show through covering.
Thanks for advice John. I'll check those points out and have a go.

cover your cracked floor with a thin decoupling mat such as bals or tilemasters stick to tiles with a ht vinyl adhesive then screed over the mat with a sutable leveler than lay your lvt
Yo got this wrong Ray
The Anti-fracture mat cannot be levelled over. With the expansion and contraction of a levelling compound when it dries it will just crack all over, though it will be stuck to the mat. You would do better with a Schluter Ditra or Dural CI++Mat as the way the leveller locks into these types will be more suited to a leveller.

have you ever layed lvt???
because dura and ditra ars not suited to lvt.
the screed must be fiberous and it works for me no complaints so far after 14 yrs doing lvt and have used your products on several occasions the level 30 bag and bottle sticks very very well
