Morning!
Bit of advise needed. I've pretty much finished tiling 4 bathrooms and 3 Ensuites in a new build but first day back yesterday and 2 wall tiles have cracked on a low stud wall which makes the sink unit. It's around a cupboard opening and I can see the plaster behind has cracked in line with the tile crack also can see where the wood used to sit it has moved 1-2mm.
They have had the heating cranked right up all Christmas as it's not yet lived in they think it will dry the house out nicely but it's wrecking the place there are cracks in every ceiling now!
Anyway my question is would you charge extra for replacing the damaged tiles or accept it's one of those things?
Thanks

if i had got 4 bathrooms and 3 Ensuites out of it and they have paid ok i would prob just take it on the chin and change them free of charge

I would replace a couple of tiles FOC. However, there could be more damage to come and you can't be expected to pop back every time a tile cracks. So I would tell the owners/contractor or whoever that any further visits will have to be charged.

The next tiles to replace will probably be around a bath or in the shower or part of a window reveal. You could end up doing another 3 days there.

Tbh the customer (first time "builder") has ****ed me off lazy sod I've had to lug every tile from a barn then to the house and up ladders so I might just see what mood I'm in once I've tiled the 100 metres of floor downstairs lol

Was speaking to the "builder" today about turning the ufh on slowly 2 weeks after I've finished the kitchen floor. He said the lowest setting is 35 degrees c! That doesn't sound right does it? That means the tiles are going to go from 10 to 35 straight away. No wonder there's cracks all over the house [emoji21]
