I had a similar thing when buying a TV a few years ago. Had 1k burning a hole in my pocket for a new TV and the assistant was putting 2 TVs that were at opposite sides of showroom together so I could compare the quality side by side. Manager came and said he couldn't do that for customers. I said to the manager have a look round the shop and see how many customers they had in, it was empty. Then I said to the guy who was serving me, when the manager asks you why you haven't hit your targets this month you can pinpoint this as a missed sale. He was gutted. I went elsewhere, an independent retailer who went out of his way. Ended up with TV and stand I wanted with £300 off it.
