cutting wheel for slate

I have a £30 plasplugs compact plus wet cutter (hi torque cuts up to 20mm)
but would it be best to replace the 110 mm diamond wheel with something better when cutting slate to get faster results and a better cut edge - and less strain onthe motor?

How about a plasplugs turbowave cutting wheel?

as far as i can find the the turbowave cutting wheel only comes in a 150mm or a 180mm wheel but this wheel seems ok for slate,,but whether the compact can cope with the slates thickness i,m not sure. some of the other members on here might have used one on slate..good luck.....dave..

Their turbowave is useless on porcelain, never had a go on slate, softer than porcelain obviously.

I have used the plasplugs pro tiler plus with a 110mm wheel.. cut through loads of
porcelain no problem, so unless its a huge job id think your unit should manage ok..

Thanks, see what you mean - a larger wheel would be cutting in to the water tray.
I'll give it a go with the standard cutting wheel and see what happens.

Marcrist blade is the way to go, got one on my mastercutter. Did 185m2 of thick porcelain, their turbo blade lasted 4 days. Marcrist just goes on and on......

I have a spare rolson wheel but havent used it yet.

The only trouble with slate and turbo blades like the Mercrist, is that you mave to make sure that the teeth on the blade are cleaned every other cut. Slate sticks to them like glue.
