Don't let the grouting process be the thing that gets rid of the film on the surface, it will only end up in the grout.

Never heard of a protection you need to get off with a stan though. That sounds weird. Where are the tiles from?

The origin of the tile was hard to find, due to lack of info on the box and the fact that they were bought online! But a bit of research online show's that they are imported from china by a company called Kingdom Industry and trade..ltd. I've heard some bad press about chinese porcelain, any views on this and/or the company??
