Damaged plasterboard

I suppose a deciding factor should be if the plasterboard can be repaired to a state where it's structural integrity is intact

Started ripping it out and found out it's dot and dab, will i have to put up studs to screw the plasterboard to or is dot and dab easy to do?

Here's a link DriLyner BASIC - Drywall masonry lining system Dot and dab is'nt difficult you just may need a little bit of planning. I would use 6 x 3 x 12.5mm boards, trying to get an 8 x 4 into an existing bathroom could be a bit of a struggle.
