Devi mat

I've tiled 6 square meters over a Devi underfloor heating mat which now does not heat. The electrician says there is a break in the wiring under the tiles. Devi want a small fortune to locate and repair the break. Does any one know how I can locate the break or of someone in Swindon / Gloucester areas who does not charge the earth who has the necessary equipment?

How much are they asking for? Warmup come out free and do a one off repair if its found before its tiled over. HEnce the reason i use warm up!

recomend you get a tester to run on ufh while you lay tiles saves the probs you are currently having

Agree with Jay. I always have one of these when install mats and tiling over them. I don't remove it until I've grouted the floor.

£150 call out and 1st hour then £75 per hour or part of then there is a £10 per repair all of course need vat added.
Ive tiled over lots of mats before and this is the first problem I've had.
Re warm up advice thanks but the horse has bolted.

Thanks for the advice but the horse has bolted and I'll think twice before taking on a heated mat again and will certainly make it clear that while i will work with care any issues with the heater will not be my responsability.

The horse has indeed bolted but worth remembering for the next one, i got a free tester with the last one i fitted but sdidnt use it as you dont get any batteries for it. Im not sure you would get away with absolving yourself from any problems with the heater one.

Has he checked it with a multimeter and checked the neutral connection? Last one we had on here that didnt work was a dropped neutral, this will still show a positive with a tester pen but isnt a proper method of testing
