Do you enjoy tiling.?,

We all tile to earn a living but do you actually enjoy it , or do you just tile to make a living and it's as simple as that.?

I love it, getting up or work is never a problem even when I have to get up at stupid o'clock to drive to the other side of the country! I could never imagine doing anything else now.

i usualy like my work but for the past 4 months iv been working for a company that do, bathrooms and kitchens with wild walls, tiling on to wall paper, paint, old serations everything apart from nice fresh gypy so it sucks bigtime, luckily i do my homers at the wkend and i get some joy out of it

90% of the time I love it. I really enjoy the more challenging work and especially like working with stone. Every now and again I get a job that I don't enjoy but, it's still better than the job I did before I tiled. Some days I feel like I need a change, but then I see sense!

yeah i know, they dont want to pay for the paper to be stripped and its a job on finish so i dont have the time to strip it off, just typical glasgow council jobs, as i said i dont like it but it pays the bills

I love my job and the finish product- but it's all the tearing down and building up again, that puts a strain on the body.
Plus there is so much to remember with these Swedish rules.....

i used to love the job, put as the years have gone on its a struggle on the knees and back, so i do find myself thinking of a different career, but theres not much out there that can compare with the money and i do love being self employed...

Yep it is a rewarding job and we're one of the few trades that customers like as they are seeing a finished trade!!!!
You get the odd job you don't like, or when things get busy it's easy to take your eye off the ball, but 90% of the time its great.

I think, tiling is kind of trade person never able to be good if do it just for money.
I like tiling and job satisfaction thinkin when I finish project it will be there many years to come :8:

cant say as i enjoy tiling anymore after 40 years seen a lot of changes and not all for the best,to me now its jst a job now and not a very busy job ,but before any daft comments yes i do take pride in my work just wish there was more of it about and everybody kept to there own jobs

I prefer all the prep work than the actual tiling but seeing the customers face when complete makes it all worth while. Must be doing something right lol

I still enjoy tiling, and still like a challenge. But I feel sad, angry, and insulted by the dilution of the skills involved in being a real tiler. Tiling is and always will be a trade. The master craftsmen I served my time with were very proud men, proud of their skills, many of them 2nd/3rd generation tilers.

I can't help wondering what these real craftsmen would make of the pretend tilers I stand with at trade counters day after day. I listen to the tosh they come out with and think yeah you can talk the talk, but you will never walk the walk.

These people would not last two minutes on a real tiling job, they have been told they are tilers by people who are not tilers. The 4 week courses are a sad reflection of the world we live in. But they will never replace a time served tiler.

I hope I don't offend anyone with my ranting, But I think I am a tiler, a real tiler it is all I have done from the age of 15.

So yes I still enjoy my job.

hey glasgow sounds as if it might a been you who tiled the flat iam in absolutley shockin job on top of paper,easy getting them off tho haha

I probably don't enjoy it as much as I used to tbh, it seems it's a constant battle with customers to be given the go ahead to do the job justice in the right way. When it all comes together as it should though it's the most rewarding job in the world.
