shouldnt you have siliconed the toilets?why are they not paying you for the extra work?..they sound as if they have been walking over the top of you m8.

Lesson learned..always get staged payments on those kind of jobs that way you wont end up in the situation you are in now.

hi mate i mentioned at first about the Silicon and they said the plumbers had this covered. regarding the skiting tiles they are saying these are in with the original price which is a lie because they didnt tell me they were having skirting tiles untill i had done 8 apartments

like you say a lesson learned.

next time get the job details in writing especially if a big job like this.

Agree fully! Only way to avoid events like this is to have it all down in writing. Can be a pain doing this as all you want to do is get started, however will save your *** in the long run.
Sorry that you had to learn the hard way, I also learnt a similar lesson and this was when working for a so called mate!! Never again.:mad2:

can you not get your money through legal means cos it sounds to me like they are in breach of contract. Presumably you outline in your quote what works are included in the price or if not is there a written enquiry which says what you are being asked to price? They sound like a buch of nasties to me though

A lot of these contracts rely on goodwill and we've been there ourselves agreeing to work for subcontracted companies on project work (mostly in the Capital).

In our experience the bigger companies are easier to deal with.

A good site foreman will not only do everything he can to help you "on the day" but will also back you up when it comes down to invoicing and speedy payment which 9 times out of 10 involves another department. Their incentive is that they want you back to do other work on other projects.

Its a pig when things go wrong with money but I am pleased that you are getting some money. It would be a nightmare if nothing was paid.

go back and start ripping a few tiles off see how much they like that!

I don't think that this is a constructive comment and is hardly likely to do your case at a magisrtates court any good.
However you will find no mercy at Crown Court when they do you for criminal damage!
In the present economic climate customers will and do find many reasons not to pay. You only have to look at some of the customer comments in this forum to see what will put someone off buying a house - because the tiling to a ceiling line wasn't straight!
