Dot Dab

you need a solid bed of adhesive on floor tiles for obvious reasons ,it probably doesnt need to be 100% but near enough and its easy to acheive even on large formats , get yourself a 20mm trowel for a kick off...

I have never dot and dabbed plasterboard with anything other than dry wall adhesive, the thing to remember is the dab of adhesive are peaked when put on with a trowel and the board is pushed back to the wall and is spread out on the rear of the board covering a lot of area but a 10mm gap must remain behind the board any thinner could weaken the adhesive for which it was designed for. Tile adhesive is normally a bed of about 3-6mm bed, so unless your using, say a thick bed adhesive, could the standard addy fail to excesive depth for which it was'nt designed for, just my humble opinion

any plasters out there if walls are to be tiled (pb on studs ) shouldnt the screws be every 200mm on studs (as the case down here ):8:

To be honest any plasterboard wether dot and dabbing or fixing onto stud work and having any weight applied to the surface of board should have extra fixings

Totaly agree with you AndyP, i think we all try to make sure we get 100% coverage but i do think that there are always going to be voids under a few of the tiles no matter how much we try to avoid it and the only way we could ever tell if we were getting 100% is by pulling up every tile after we have laid it down to inspect it. And i for one aint doing that lol.

But i think as long as it's close enough no problems will ever occur cos it's like anything, if you were to get a tile and rest the 2 ends on a brick then you could probably smash through it very easily but if you were to put the 2 bricks closer together it would be much more difficult and if you put them much closer together say so there is a 10mm gap betwenn them then i dont reckon it would snap no matter what you did........ unless of course you hit it with a hammer or something.

Errr Hope you get what i'm trying to say
