my bosch, all cordless and BLUE! drill (hammer, drill, 15 torque settings) jigsaw, torch with 3 batteries 14.4v, 2.6MaH, cost me £320 about 3 years ago, one of the best investments I've ever made, also came with 2 chargers:thumbsup:

at it again you racist git

would you get a dewalt for that price(100)if so then that would be my choice.I know the large one is £500

i got a ryobie drill from screfix with a cordless angle grinder for 70 which is gd not a bad drill and lets face it who couldnt do with a cordless grinder once in a while so helpfull when your on sites where power is far away

For £100, Screwfix and B&Q are selling a £200-180 Dewalt 18v combi at the moment. The girls brother has one and I was using it today, decent enough drill but he said battery life wasn't very good. Two batteries included though so for £100 I may well get one myself.

I`ve got a silverline combi hammer drill hi spec 24v 2 24v batteries 1.5ah
£52.50 had it for 3yrs and still running well.

If you can find that same drill for sale at £200 (apart from some chancer on ebay) then I'll buy you one, Screwfix shouldn't be able to mislead people with this sort of advertising:thumbsdown:

Worth a £100? maybe, worth £200 never

Thought £200 was a bit steep for it myself, screwfix or B&Q are never the cheapest. It's certainly no Panasonic.

That God for that!!! I didn't want to open this thread as I thought you might have found it for sale somewhere and I was going to be out of pocket... phew!

hi mate,

I have a Milwaukee (which is expensive) and a Erbuer (not expesnive). I can honestly say that many Erbuer products are great value for money, I have an 18v drill, a router, a jigsaw and a reciprocating saw which are all Erbuar and perform very well. Best of all is that They come with a 2 year guarentee at Screwfix.

i would go for Makita 18Volts minimum (anything less you really feel the lack of torque), the people to keep an eye on are Screwfix. they have revolving special offer every few months, the Makita £99 18V drill kit always comes up. The other two same spec also on special offer are normally DeWalt and Bosch. If you have a trade account with Grahams you can get good specail offers on Bosch blue. The other people who sell DeWalt and Bosch blue and Makita on good special offer or generally good pricing are Toolstation (avoid their Silverline range - its crap). The reason i go Makita is my trades and I personally rate em, their drills are really good, look on the label and you will see they are all (or mostly - i have not seen otherwise) made in Japan or the UK. DeWalt is made all over the shop and Bosch can also be made anywhere now (they were always made in Germany or Switzerland) - i think Makita have kept their quality.

there you go ..
Dewalt DC100KA-GB 18V Cordless Combi Drill - Screwfix.com, Where the Trade Buys

£100 was £180! ... a good drill ... (and next time around it will be Makita then Bosch ... right now looks like DeWalt)

Hi Chaps

New on here, 1st post.

Ive got that dewalt drill, £98 from b and q, nice bit of kit for the money and if memory serves it also has a metal gearbox. Out of interest b and q's range of mculloch( spelling?) apparently comes out of the same manufacturer as the yellow and black variety, might be worth further investigation if you dont mind the colour of the drill.

Andy.

cheers Andy, my father in law got the same deal last weekend, how many batteries did you get? he was trying to get me to part with my spare!!

Two batteries with mine doug, only had light use so far but seem ok. Macallister are the other drills (dewalt allegedly) not mculloch😳 as in my first post.

cheers.

Focus do a yellow an black power tool range called Mckeller (or something like that) I'd imagine they're probably built around De Walt spec but with inferior materials, abit like green bosch compared to blue bosch:thumbsup:

Dewalt is made by black and decker! some of you guys may be aware of that, just wanted to let everyone elso know:lol:

Thanks for all the recomendations guys. I've basicly told my father in law to buy Makita so its in his hands.

As for your father in law after your spair doug, there murder for those kind of shanagins aint they!:incazzato:

well he knows I have a de walt as a spare (my bosch is my main drill) and my dewalt has two batteries, but Harrison, my 4 year old has laid claim to my de walt, so tough luck Pops!!

Thats adorable!! I'd say bless his little cotton socks, but I've seen him and he looks like a tuff lad like his Daddy!

This post might be a little late but trust me there's no need to spend a fortune on a 18v Li-ion drill trust me.
I tend to buy the best most expensive tools money can buy and last year bought an 18v Li-ion makita combi drill and for 360 notes I'm not impressed one little bit, the chuck rusts, the torque settings don't go high enough, the chuck lossens off whilst drilling, the gears are sometimes very hard to change and for £360 it's not worth it.
I bought a Ryobi 18v Li-ion drill for £99 on offer down from £129 and it's far better than the makita particularly when considering the price difference, ok the batteries are only 1.3Ah but you get two, and larger ones can be bought from screwfix.

In the £100 price bracket the Makita is far superior than the DeWalt but what a lot of you guys dont realise is how cheap tools are in the U.K. that 14v Makita with 2 batteries is 240€ here in Spain and all Rubi stuff is far more expensive here than in the U.K.
Lucius.
