I did notice both them thing CR. cheers for pointing them out never the less.

I know the trouble of buying from no feedback but I've done it before on a treadmill spent £800 and save a fortune. the fell was a new seller and was seling cheap to build his feedback to establich the ebay account. happens quite oftern. but still as you said I know its a risk. not sure if I will take it in this case.

Also I spotted the (naked) drills. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Hillhead. £160 you say? whats the code/name so I know what to tell him to look for?

li-ion means the battery does not have a 'memory' and can take more repeat charges. If you want to keep a Ni-cd or Ni-mh battery in top condition you have to drain it before each charge (very time consuming)

One of the most important factors of a drill is it's amp hours (ah) think of it as the drills horse power, you could have two car's both 2 litre but one is 400bhp and the other is 100bhp, which one is going to win?

All depends mate, get some drills you like the look of in the budget and i'll tell you which one I think is best along with everybody else.

All of the things mentioned are a trade off against one another, I've bought so many drills over the years that I now have a minimum spec depending on the use of each drill I have. So also post what you think the drill would be used for on a daily basis:thumbsup:

cool I'll av a butchers.

I've a corded drill that is fine for heavy work so hammer facility is not nessacery. I'll buy myself a good cordless hammer drill in the new year when I can justerfy it.

It will be mostly used for knocking up boxing around pipe work that sort of thing.

Not for mixing addie I've a mixer for that.

I'm not a fan of the cheaper Dewalts, the build quality on them is poor, cheap housing and cheap plastic gears, I would go for the budget line Makita's over the Dewalt.

Also I forgot to mention here and on the other forum that you should look out for chuck sizes, for this type of drill it's not so important (as it hasn't got the power associated with attachments requiring large chucks) but when you spend a large wedge on a drill only to find it has a small chuck it can make a grown man cry

Also when you are looking around and see a drill you like..

Go to Google
along the top you should see a tab marked 'Shopping', click this
Now copy and paste the model number of the drill you are looking at and click search

This will give you a load of people selling so you can compare prices and see if the 'amazing' deal they are offering is just that

thank you so much. I pointed out the dewalt because i saw it on the shelf on sat and know my f-i-l is funny about buying on line, like to go in to a shop and hand over money kinda guy. there is a screw fix down the road from his work but if you want to recomend me as a new customer please do. I've been meaning to sort an account with them.
