Hi We Have Just Had Red Quarry Tiles Laid By A Local Company And As We Needed Use Of Kitchen We Agreed To Coat Ourselves Before Going To Bed.

I Did The First Coat With A Sponge , When We Got Up Following Day It Did Not Look Much Different,so Last Night I Did It Agian With A Six Inch Roller.
It Is Now Patchy And Looks A Mess.

Will A Further Coat With Sponge Not To Wet Help To Even Out.

Hi Kenneth

I used linseed oil on mine, but that's a tad late now I suppose. Is there an area out of the way where you can apply a further coat to check? If not consider stripping and applying multiple thin coats - always looks better in the end.

Hopefully one of the stone experts will have an easier solution.

Without seeing the result or at least photos of it I cannot be 100% sure. However experience would lead me to believe putting it on with a roller the second time was your mistake. It is likely the there was too much on the roller and therefore it was not evenly applied and wiped after the dwell time. All sealers need to be applied sparingly. I would advise the use of a sealing and coating remover. Leave for 48 hours and then reapply the sealer sparingly using a paint pad.

If fthey are Ruabon, they don't need sealing. In fact Raubon recommend against it unless there is seriously heavy traffic.

Topps main quarry is the Pilkingtons Multiversatile the reversable one, with studs on them......Gaz
