first month

here are the tiles I will be using on Monday guys, any tips or advice for this type it is the falce split face type. only problems I have managed to think of is when it comes to grouting its gonna be a nightmare lol. thanks WP_20140305_001.jpg

oh and also having to use the grinder on each cut! do I Silicon the plug sockets once I have grouted or is grout sufficient... im thinking grout but common sense is saying Silicon due to any movement that may occur?

I assume you mean when the sockets are screwed back down onto the uneven tile surface of these tiles? If so, then Silicon them where needed. Grout will crack and look unsightly.

The bay looks good ash .
As for the tiles, when grouting just take more time not getting it everywhere, and just screw the sockets back on after you have grouted,I wouldn't grout/Silicon around em mate

hmmm 2 different answers there.... another tiler agree with one of these and that's how it shall be done! thanks lads

On such an uneven surface I would be driven mad always looking at gaps of up to 6mm between socket and tile or sockets mounted wonky.
I have done this before and used building frame packers to make the socket totally even with the wall then neatly filled the voids with colour matching Silicon. IMO it looked far neater. Horses for courses and all that!!!

Ash you will need to do something round the sockets as there's going to be a gap on the uneven surface of the tile..

thanks guys, I was going to fill the gaps anyway stef just thought I would create some tension lol! I could also not bare even thinking about there being a gap between the socket and tile and its not even my kitchen! thanks for the opinion guys

It can be tight with cashflow when you're just starting off Ash. I remember times when I was living hand to mouth day to day and couldn't get credit in tile shops. (Just after the recession when my boss had no work for me and I didn't have much of my own work). If I supplied materials, I needed paid on the way home or else I was going to run out of petrol. Remember a few times when I had stuck £40 petrol in the car and claimed I'd forgotten my bank card just to get home, telling the shop I'd drop the money in tomorrow. It's not all doom and gloom and you'll be rewarded as time goes on but it's quite a struggle and tempting just to get a stable job in a factory.

Hard to get any savings up when you start but my advice would be to try and put a few hundred aside in it's own bank account to use as a float, and don't dip into it for family bills etc. Keep it separate and keep it topped up every time money comes in.

Sorry about that post, makes me sound closer to 76 than 26
