Floor Tiling

I am tiling a first floor bathroom which has a plywood floor. I have a small floor area at the end of a shower tray which is 900 x 600 and I want to raise this by 50mm so that it is just higher than the tray. What would be the best material to use? Is there anything I shouldnt use? Intending to cover it with 6mm Hardie Backer and then tile.

If there is no enclosure and you are wanting to raise the floor so as to get the water to run back into the shower tray you will have to create a fall running back to the tray too!

Indeed, plus tanking but those adjoining walls are already tiled
