Fine Tiling

Hi guys,

Bit of advice please, have a bathroom floor to tile which has a ped toilet and bidet these are fixed to the chipboard, the floor was carpeted and there is water damage around the bath which can be repaired, i have to lay WPB board of course but the customer does not wont to have the toilet , bidet, Ped taken up so i can get the boarding underneath, As you can imagine i have to cut around every item. Iam a little concerned with the depth of board/tile/adhesive which would be appox 25mm.

can anyone suggest any ideas to overcome this.

Thanks.....

i personally would advise the customer to get a plumber in to remove the sanitry wear. use the argument that it will make a far more professional finnish, also you could use the argument that if they ever had to replace part of it, that the new pieces are highly unlikeky to be the same shape as the old ones.
if they are determined to keep them in place, you could try using an adhesive that will work straight onto chipboard like bal fastflex and so minimise the over all depth of the new floor,
i hope this is helpful

Yes it's one 7.5kg bag to one bottle of liquid, If you haven't used Fastflex before I would reccommend that you only mix half a bag at a time as it is rapid setting, sort out all of your cuts for an area then lay the tiles in one go & then clean that area, make sure you wear disposable gloves and be careful where the ady gets as it's almost impossible to get rid of.

One bag & bottle of fastflex will also only provide coverage for 2.5 - 3 sq m so if your doing a larger floor it can work out quite expensive. Also, if your going to use Fastfex you should use a solid bed tipped trowel (about 15-18 quid) it's just cost, cost, cost in this game!

Best of luck
