Footwear

I've been Tiling for years as a DIYer, but now thinking about doing it full time. I've never specifically thought about correct type of footwear, do you recommend toe'tectors or just a pair of trainers? I already have a pair of Mach's with the knee pads which are v/good.

If you are on site then you willl need steel toecaps but for private you can use what ever you feel comfortable with. I wear safety trainers on and off site. No problems at all for me but i have heard of sites requiring ankle protection too and that would mean boots.

As Neale says - steel toe caps on site, normal trainers everywhere else

as above, but do i try and wear boots throughout on any job.
a tile dropped on the end of the toe would pretty hurt i,d imagine and also support to the ankle aswell helps me.
Damaged my ankle once getting out of the van before work i was out for 3 weeks thankfully i was paye .Now that im self employed things are very different

for years I struggled with boots, I've got a hinged 10" steel plate in my ankle and normal steely boots always rubbed the screw heads and hurt like hell. These days tho' boots are a lot more lightweight with padded ankle supports which suit me well. I always feel uncomfortable not having some form of toe protectors though.

I regularly visit a chiropodist every 3 months, the first time was because my feet were in agony, he took one look at my feet and said "dewalt boots" and he was right. I changed to Helly hanson and Blackrock and have had no more problems. I alternate the boots every 2 days.

I keep going back because its like walking on a cloud when you come out, I would advise it to everyone, nothing worse than sore feet when you have to work.
