getting rid of a bees nest?/

anyone ever done this? i have an old shed im going to knock down next week to make way for a greenhouse and a pond but noticed today there are bees and lots of em going into a void under the shed,,anyone any tips on how to get rid/kill the bees?

Just pull the shed down or even better get someone else to do it and you on stand by with camcorder for Utube..:lol:

start by sticking your finger in the nest :lol::lol::lol: no if it's bee's you should get a bee keeper to collect them if it's wasp's then they die in a few month's or buy wasp killer powder:lol:

Get your self down B&Q or suchlike and get some Bee/wasp killer but get the foam type not the powder.
Then squirt the nest all over with foam and what the little suckers hit the floor

Do not try the powder, it wil kill them but not before they sting you..
Do not try and drop the nest into a bucket...they are faster than you
Do not try and use a vaccum cleaner to suck them up......it annoys them....then they attack you
Learn from "someone" elses mistake

Some local bee keepers will come and remove them for free, have a ring around

wasps are pretty common pests and bees can be precious to some... depending on type of bee.

go and buy a few jars and place them next to the nest, then ask him to look again

IF you can get to the nest to move it then do. I had one when we removed the roof, small bumbles and i put it in a box and moved it to a better location. They are on the demise and need protecting cos without them we wont be here either!

I have a second nest i the ground which i found with my hand when weeding a couple of weeks ago, the bee man came and took a look as they looked like honey bees but were in fact called Golden Sunshines. Now if i was to ever be a bee id wanna be a golden sunshine.

He said it was illegal to kill them and they shouldnt be moved, he then said it i wanted to place a petrol soaked rag over the nest and weight it down and the fumes would kill them. But i didnt hear it from him

right,i got the foam for killing wasp nests and sprayed it under the shed,,,didnt do much so knocked the shed down as planned and found the nest stuck to the underside if the floor,wasnt much in it to be honest just lots of maggoty looking things so sprayed it wi the foam. job done the bees were bzzing around but didnt bother me at all wasnt i glad:hurray:

If bees would have just put wood with nest to side for a few weeks and let them sort them selves out,if you are putting up greenhouse and like your gardening,they could have been use to you

Have tried filling holes with silicon on my shed once with a wasps nest,put loads in the couple of holes, they were flying in and out of,they just chewed though it :incazzato:and by sound coming from inside,not very happy,ended up using a cases of spray chemical

Bees are protected, you should not be killing them, they are more important to the ecology than you know.
