Must admit my sense of humour can sometimes be lost on the computer key board.......definitely anything I say is ment as a joke and it is great having someone on here with such a great amount of knowledge in tiling........saves having to rely on that Dave bloke all the time...lol
It's all beginning to sound a bit gay now....and we're way off topic... (you'll know all about that)...lol .....so before we get accused of being friends with the grand design crowd......No affence ever intended. ..
It's just Marc's female side Andy , makes him hormonal lol lol lol lol
Hi mate ,Fervere!
(to boil)
@MW Smith CeramicsHi mate ,
I know someone that had the same problem who did a tiling job for me a long time a go and we used LTP grout stain remover and plenty of clean water & took it 3 to 4 applications to get it up to half decent finish or you could use a grout take from Tradetiler, I have used the and it will take top layer off enough for you to regrout or if it's just horrendous then get your Reuter out with a few good grout removal blades - will take time but you will get there..... and I have known longstanding tile contractors whohave had this problem too......I find to avoid this discolouration in grout first of all use s top quality brand, I always go, Mapei ultracolour, Ardex fl or fs and sometimes I use butech from Porcelanosa.
How I go about grouting as follows.....
A top brand of course as above I have used gran fix and personally I think it's awful stuff, bad consistency, doesn't firm up quick enough and bad pinholes!
Always give 24hrs before grouting even with rapid sets , longer the better I say!....so the moisture has dried out from adhesive always check this with manufacturer and with the tiles you are using - ( I just completed a Kashmire white granite floor and had to wait 5 days before it was dry to a uniformed appearance before sealing , grouting, sealing and buffing...right game!
Make sure the floor is dry!
Shake the bag up
Always use a whisk, then give it just a couple of minutes and whist again
Fill up your joints, wait for it to firm up and one good wash with plenty of clean water, I use 2 buckets or wash boys depending on the area...to get the 2nd wash in before the grout begins to cure as wetting it down again after the first wash will cause discolouration!......( with some grouts that it ) I find the only grout I can 2nd wash after the grout has begun to cure is butech and never dries patchy!....but not with Mapei and ardex......so then let the grout dry out for 24hrs so it's all uniformed before you give it a 2nd and maybe a 3rd wash then a polish....job done☺️
Good luck mucka
