Hi guys.
Been browsing this forum for a few months now and have already asked advise previously.
The best thing about the forum so far is that I have learnt what products/systems to use and some generally "what not to do's" - all valuable stuff.
I'm almost ready to start tiling my en-suite floor. I replaced the bouncy floorboards with 18mm marine ply which is now pretty solid and deflection free - screwed at 150 centres, etc.
We have decided to go for Granite sparkly floor tiles, sized approx 600x300 and will probably lay in a brick bond.
I was planning on buying some Dural CI+ matting to overlay the floor and tile onto. I know that most people recommend laying a 6mm cement board (like hardie backer) first but I really don't want to ramp the floor up too high making a step from room to room. Hoever I also want the job to be done right as the tiles are fairly expensive.
What do you guys think I should do to avoid cracking and provide some sort of waterproofing against water spillage on floor
Dural CI+ only
6mm Cement Board
6mm Cement Board and Dural CI+
Also I understand that I need to prime the ply with a suitable primer and use only bagged adhesive.
I was planning on using Mapei products.
Can you please suggest what particular adhesive/primer I would need as there seems to be so many variables?
Once I start I will post photos before, during and after so you can see progress of how it goes.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
David.
