I always seal travertine before I grout.Thanks for all the replies guys.
I'll make sure the cleaner is alkaline based.
Out of interest does anyone else use the mapai grout? Surely 15 mins pot life must be a problem on big jobs?
I think the porosity of the tiles compounded the issue though. If I had sealed them I think I wouldnt be posting this!
It's my own fault though I should have read the instructions
Mapei grout can go off quickly if mixed with dirty water .or if to much in bucket mixed it seems to set it off quickly. Also scraping off drier grout into the grout bucket makes it go off quicker or after initial mixing adding more water also does .and lastly was grout in date .
