Will be doing kitchen splashie soon, and am a bit concerned re cleaning up after grouting. When I did my floor, I tried to get as much water out of the sponge as possible with my washboy before final clean, but there is always a little excess water. If I am cleaning up tiles around electrical sockets, are there any particular tricks to avoid setting my house on fire, or is it just a case of being extra careful around the sockets??

Cheers

yes turn off power m8, at the fuse box ,or you will light up for christmas :lol::lol:

You'd be better off using a handsponge round a splashback. You won't get an electric shock as long as you're careful. Ring out the sponge well and avoid making contact with the workings of the socket. You'll be fine to wipe the sides of the socket.

I would use low tack masking tape and stick clingfilm over the socket before grouting. peel it off afterwards and socket should be nice and clean.

I cant believe this. Its like having to put "warning coffee is hot" on a take out coffee.

Jimbob, you didnt know you can turn the power to the sockets off?

I just use a new sponge............wrings out almost dry.

Never had a shock...............well, I have had a few trying to make tiles prior to cutting :yikes:
