I am done tiling the house and now its time for grouting, i did a lot of individual small room but never a big room like that, 800 square feet i believe

how do i proceed ? im using Mapei ultracolor grout. how many batch should i do ? do i only grout let say 10 feet by 10 feet every time and mix new grout ?

Thx

read the instructions very carefully and when mixing new batches measure the water out exactly batch per batch ultracolour is rapid setting so dont get caught out by this by doing too large an area at a time

i grouted some rooms downstair and i found that the grout thickens verry fast when spreading it, what would you suggest to be a good amount to mix every time ? 1/4 of a bag ? Tiles are 13x13 3mm lines

I find you only gain enough experiance in grout amounts through, erm, experiance

How bigs your bags ?

after initially mixing, have you left it to "slake" and then re-stirred before starting to grout?

definetly let sit for 3 mins or so then remix ! ultacolor is extremely quick setting, with a big floor like that its hard to beat two people grouting, one grout and one wash, works well for me.

once you have grouted ,wait for a couple of minutes then in a circular motion and with a wet(not soaking) sponge,go over the tiles you have grouted.Wait a further 10 mins before using a clean sponge and a clean bucket of water to wipe away the excess grout residue.

TIP; just wipe once the one way with the sponge then turn it over and wipe once again ,then rinse the sponge and repeat the process until all grout is removed from the face of the tiles.

sounds like u might be overworking it when u r grouting. try putting a liitle less on the floor
