Thats superb news Sue and some great points on your persistants to the tile supplier. :8: Make it a strong one and enjoy:hurray:

A final posting to let all you lovely tilers know the result of all my research and persistence:

I Won!! The suppliers, who were badly advised by their adhesive suppliers and ill-informed about their own product - and who have become thoroughly sick of my detailed letters threatening legal action! - are going to sort out my whole bathroom from square one. New tiles, adhesive (they got it wrong twice), sealant (they thought it wasn't needed - wrong) - in other words, all labour and materials to give me the bathroom I wanted in the first place. Not a penny more from me. Tilers exonerated.

Phew! Quite stressful, even for Feisty Old Bat.

Thanks, all of you. Your info and support has been marvellous, and knowing that I was in touch with this forum really made the suppliers sit up and listen (and the tilers...).

Byeee.

wow, that's something to be proud of all TF members

And that's fantastic news for you too Sue! :hurray:

Thats some excellent news. Well done for sticking to your guns!

Great news, but surly these tilers who had a combined experience of 45 years were slightly at fault here too. Cos although they openly explained that they had never used them tiles before i would have thought that they would have at least known enough to explain that ply weather marine or not is just not suitable for walls, especially shower walls. Also knowing that these tiles were natural stone why didn't they have enough knowledge to know that advice given by a tile shop or tile supplier is always useless!!! And why didn't they run a little test on the tiles first to see if they needed sealing.

Sorry if i sound like a grump but it really annoys me when i see people getting good jobs like this one and messing them up!!! when will people who are not tilers stop giving advise on our trade.

If you ask me they had a bloody lucky escape on this one the mugs!!

I think that tile distributors should start looking at educating their staff properly in the trade!!

If they are gonna give advice start making sure its the right advice and thats its stuff they have learnt rather than what they think.

I know who both parties are on the tile supply and adhesive side.....

My advice to both parties....

Staff training...the advice from the adhesive tech guy was blatantly wrong...and the tile supplier....please give more training to your staff in usage of composite stones.

FOB...thnks for sharing your experiance with us and i for one am glad it all turned out ok... and hopefully your tilers learnt from this as well...

I totally agree with all your comments, Dave, and I can assure you the tilers aren't left out of the learning! Their contribution is that I get their labour for nothing and I won't be out of pocket. I've learned a lot too.....

Morning sue(FOB)....will you post us some pics of your finished project once it is all done....
