Dylante - it is for the manufacturers of the relevant adhesives to decide and warrant that their products are suitable for any given installation. However the facts are that cement and gypsum are chemically incompatible so to use them in the same installation should be carried out with absolute attention to this fact.
Statistically speaking I know of no failures where Gypsum adhesives have been used. I know of lots of failures where cement has been used. Bear in mind that the failures are not necessarily due to the fact that cement adhesive has been used but more to do with something within the installation leading to a lack of robustness in the installation. Cement on Cement is a very robust system, Gypsum on Gypsum is a very robust system. Cement on Gypsum is not and so you must do things absolutely properly and make sure you use a system which is as robust as it can be. The UK based businesses have generally shied away from Gypsum Adhesives because there is no British
Standard for there manufacture - the current UK standards only deal with cement based adhesives. In Europe where there are lots more gypsum based adhesives available and where they are used more routinely with these screeds there are very very significantly fewer failures.l
